In the early 1980’s, Malcolm Samuels was part of a steppin’ set in Chicago by the name of Pleasure Productions. The name came with Malcolm in the late 1980’s when he relocated to Minnesota but remained inactive for the next decade out of respect for steppin’ sets already active in the Twin Cities.

When the previous steppin’ set (Club Elegance, Mr. Tom Hall) ceased to exist, Malcolm approached founding member, Dennis Smalley about starting a steppin’ set sponsored by Pleasure Productions. Three months later, this discussion transformed into reality with the first Pleasure Productions steppin’ set in the Twin Cities. Steppin’ was once again available in the Minneapolis area, offering a more upscale alternative to clubs otherwise frequented at the time (Riverview Supper Club, Kato’s)! Since that first night six years ago, Pleasure Productions has been hosting steppin’ sets continuously every two weeks.

Today, Pleasure Productions’ Friday Night Steppin’ offers steppers – novice or expert – an opportunity to show their style! Together with its original deejay - formerly KMOJ's Queen of Late Night - Lady L, the members of Pleasure Productions are committed to keeping steppin’ alive in the Minneapolis/St. Paul because steppin’ is universal and creates an environment that supports peace, love and happiness!
